SMC would like to invite you with family and friends to our Monthly Concert to be held on Sunday 25th June 2023 at the Quakers Hill Community Centre, 7 Lalor Road, Quakers Hill. Please note the change from the usual venue for the June concert.
4.45 pm to 5.45 pm: Vocal concert by Chi. Sudhanva Iyengar accompanied by Chi. Abhinav Harishankar on the Violin and Sri. Krishnamurthy on the Mrudangam
6 pm to 8pm: Vocal concert by Chi. Ranjith Das accompanied by Chi. Ayush Veturi on the Violin and Sri. Subangan Nirmaleshwaran Gurukkal on the Mrudangam
Artiste Profiles:
Chi. Sudhanva Venkatesh Iyengar
Sudhanva Iyengar is 12 yrs old. He is also called Simba. He is a boy who has had lots of love and aspiration toward music right from his toddler days. He developed increasing interest in Carnatic classical music through his Dad. Just to make a mention, His late great grand mother Smt Shubhangi Gorur was an A grade artiste in AIR. Sudhanva has love and passion in playing chess, and Tennis as well. He has won a few regional match play Tennis series recently. About his music, he started learning Carnatic classical music from Sri Anand Dixit at the age of 5 yrs. Currently learning from Sri S Adithya Narayanan and takes lessons from Sri Pragalbha and Smt Malathi Singlachar as well. He has given short concerts for Ayyappa temple sydney and Sai mandir sydney. He has recently won a few prizes in music competitions, namely World Brahmin Welfare association and Annamacharya competition. He has won National Anthem competition conducted by Wagga council and has also performed at an Australia Day ceremony. He has been learning Mridanagam and Ghatam from Ghatam S. Krishna, Chennai and also Drums from Mr. Alex O’Neil of Kapooka Army band in Wagga Wagga.

I recently moved to Sydney from Japan where I lived for 14 years. I'm a devotee of music and I had the good fortunate of learning classical music for almost 15 years in Kerala where I belong to. I had the opportunity to be part of the music circle in Tokyo, organised some carnatic music events in Tokyo and also gave some concerts while I was there.
Sri. Yoga Aayush Veturi
Aayush is 18 years old and has been learning Carnatic music since the age of 5 .
He is a disciple of Sangeeta Kalanidhi Sri Lalgudi G J R Krishnan for Violin and is also training under Smt Sankari Krishnan for Vocal music .
Aayush has performed in Malaysia and Singapore for different organisations ( Temple of Fine Arts ( TFA) , Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural centre ( NSSBICCR) , Singapore India Fine arts Society , since the age of 8 .
He is currently pursuing a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at University of New South Wales, Sydney.
Family background brief :
Aayush hails from an illustrious family steeped in literature and music.
His great grandfather Sri. Veturi Prabhakara Sastry was a pundit in Sanskrit and Telugu languages. He was renowned for unearthing the hidden treasure of over 20 thousand Annamacharya compositions, lying forgotten for over 6 centuries in the Annamayya Sankeerthana Bhandagaram at Tirumala temple and bringing them to light in 1920.
His grandfather Sri.Veturi Ananda Murthy is a respected Litterateur and researcher, who is an authority on Tallapaka Annamacharya and aunt Smt. Yoga Vandana is an A top Vainika .
Chi. Abhinav Harishankar
Abhinav Harishankar is a year 11 student of Girraween High School. He began his Carnatic vocal music lessons with Sydney based Mridangam and Vocal Guru Sri Raman Easwaran and currently is under the guidance of Sri Chitravina P Ganesh and Sri K S Vishnudev. Abhinav is also a Carnatic violin student and performer having learnt initially from Sydney based Vid. Sri Kranthikiran Mudigonda and now continuing his advanced violin lessons under Guru Sri Pappu Gyandev. Abhinav has given several vocal and violin performances in Sydney for Yuva Sangeetha Margam, Ragapriya Sydney, other

Abhinav is a finalist for Gayathri Fine Arts Thithhikkum TamizhIsai competition 2022 and finalist for Guruguhaamrta Muthuswamy Dikshitar Kruthis competition for three years in a row.
Abhinav also learns Mridangam with Sydney based Vid Sri Raman Easwaran.
Chi. Subangan Nirmaleswaran Kurukkal
Subangan had his initiation to the art of Miruthangam under the guidance of Sri Paheerathan Somasunthara Iyer. Subangan later come under the guidance of Sri Ratnasabapathy Suthanthiraraj a well-respected guru of both Miruthangam and Flute and founder of Ghanalayam Music Academy in Sydney. He is currently undergoing his advanced training from the renowned VidwanNadhaoli Melakaveri Sri K Balaji. Subangan has been involved in classical arts both as a concert organiser and accompanying artist for more than 8 years. He has taken part in numerous events and accompanied a number local and visiting artists from abroad on both the Miruthangam and Ghajira. Subangan is the founder ofKarpahavalli (2007), an organisation that works with up and coming musicians by giving them a platform to perform and practice the beautiful art of Carnatic music. Subangan is also a passionate Carnatic Music teacher. He teaches a select group of dedicated students with an emphasis on tradition and classicism, the same teaching methodologies used by his respected gurus. Subangan holds a Diploma Law from the Legal Profession Admission Board and a Business Degree competed at APM College of Business.
