05:10 PM - 07:10 PM:  Vocal concert by Smt. Subha Harinath accompanied by Sri. Balaji Jagannadhan on Violin and Sri. Sivakumar Sethupathi on Mrudangam 


Artiste Profiles:

Sri. Naresh Prahlad


Naresh started learning vocal music & Veena from his mother Vidushi S Uma, Bangalore(graded artist of All India Radio, Bengaluru) from age 8 onwards and is continuing advanced lessons from his mother and sister(Vidushi Vasudha Ramu). He has learnt violin from Vidwans AD Zachariah, Dr R Raghuram and J K Sridhar(Violin) for few years. He has learnt Jal-Tarang by himself (with guidance from his mother and Smt
Rajana Pradhan, Sydney). He has been selected at the Local Audition Board (LAB)-2018, All India Radio (AIR) Bengaluru and has been recorded for Central Audition Board(CAB) for Karnatic Classical Jal-Tarang(awaiting result). He has performed karnatic classical Jal-Tarang concert on the occasion of 346th Sri Raghvendra Swamy Aradhana(2017) at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mission Mutt, Indiranagar, Bengaluru. He has also delivered a Lecture - Demonstration titled “A Rythmic Melody Instrument - Jal Tarang” at the International Conference & Music Festival-2011 organized by Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Bengaluru, India. He has completed Senior grade examination in
Vocal and Veena, junior grade in violin(conducted by Karnataka State Board). He teaches Veena, vocal and violin and has served as coordinator at SPICMACAY, Bangalore. An engineer by profession, he currently is working here in Sydney.

 

 

 

Smt. Subha Harinath


Subha Harinath was introduced to music at a very young age and has the privilege of undergoing training from disciples of the famous Carnatic Music legends. Subha was introduced to music and continue to train with her mother Smt. Rajalakshmi Venkatachari - disciple of Shri.B.Rajam Iyer . She did her initial training under Shri. Sethurama Iyer - disciple of Shri. Madurai Mani Iyer. Subha continues her advanced training under Smt. Prema Hariharan - disciple of Shri. Kalyanaraman. She along with her guru Smt. Prema Hariharan released audioChinna Chinna Slokangal andThaye Thulasamma which was a great success in Chennai. She was very fortunate to be the lead singer for the dance balletKreeda by Prof.C.V.Chandrashekar which was a huge hit in Sydney and Canberra. Subha has been part of music circle in Australia performing in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and also has been lead singer for charity fund raising dance ballet's organised in Sydney. Subha has had training in playing the Carnatic Violin under the guidance of Parur.Shri.M.S.Anantharaman. She is currently a Corporate IT professional, teaching Carnatic Music to a handful of very talented and dedicated students. Subha aims to provide young students with a holistic understanding and appreciation of South Indian Music.

Sri. Balaji Jagannadhan


Balaji Jagannadhan learnt vocal and instrumental Carnatic music from Bangalore Smt R. Thangammal, herself a disciple of Vidwan Sri R R Keshavamurthy. Balaji hails from the steel city of Jamshedpur, India, and is a frequent performer at Carnatic forums in Sydney and Brisbane. He is a enthusiast of both schools of music Carnatic and Hindustani. He has also contributed to the musical choreography for a few classical dance recitals.

Chi. Harish Gopikan Ravindran


Harish initiated his Mridangam training under Dr. Suresh Ramachandra in Auckland, New Zealand. Harish is fortunate in pursuing extensive training for the past 10 years and has become a proud disciple of vidwan Sri. Thanjavur K. Murugaboopathi of Chennai. He had his Mridangam Arangetram at the age of 16 in Sydney in 2017, alongside his sister Vishni on Veena, and was accompanied by eminent vidwans from Chennai. Harish is a regular performer in Sydney and has notably accompanied concerts overseas at prestigious Sabhas and venues in Chennai, London, San Francisco and Auckland, including Narada Gana Sabha, Subham Fine Arts Chennai, London Sri Murugan Temple and Tamils of Northern California. Harish is also blessed to have accompanied many visiting artistes from Chennai. 

Sri. Sivakumar Sethupathi


Siva had his training in mridangam under Guru Sri T.S. Janakiraman, a disciple of Sri Palani Subramania Pillai. He was a recipient of music scholarship awarded by the Centre For Cultural Resources and Training, Government of India. He is a sought-after mridangam artiste for Carnatic music programs, Bharatanatyam recitals and Sampradaya Bhajans in Australia. He has accompanied several leading artistes from India. Siva is a founding member of Sydney Bhajan Mandali.
